Batadomba Lena Caves is situated in Rathnapura in Sri Lanka. It is also known as the Diva Guhava in Buddhist literature which is a cave system in Sudagala.
About the destination
The cave is 15 meters in height, 18 meters in width, and 25 meters in length which have a total cave area of 6800 m2. You have to go on a hike from Sudagala which is a 400 meters long one. You will have to climb an additional 50 meters to reach the cave entrance. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Buddha resided after placing his foot on Adam’s peak and proceeded to Dighavapi.
History of Batadomba Lena Caves
Batadomba Lena Caves is associated with the most famous Batadomba Apeman or the Balangoda Manawaya. The remains found in this cave is known to be of the Balangoda man. It is stated that the average male was 174 cm in height and the height of females is 166 cm. They have thick skull-bones, heavy jaws, depressed noses, and prominent brow-ridges.

Go on McCallum Road and turn right onto Kynsey Road. Turn left Dudley Senanayake Mawatha and turn right onto Athurugiriya Road. Turn left onto Avissawella Road and turn left onto Kuruwita Erathna Road then turn right onto Paragala Road to reach your destination.
From Ratnapura
Go on Colombo-Batticaloa highway and turn right onto Kuruwita Erathna Road to reach your destination.
