The factory commenced operations specializing in producing Chinese style planned green tea for health-conscious tea drinkers and have gone a step further in exporting green tea globally. Newburgh Green Tea Factory has clipped on another feather to its cap by recording the highest all island sales average for many years. This no doubt exhibits the caliber of Newburgh Green Tea Factory.

Newburgh Green Tea Factory was the recipient of the prestigious Award for the Best Green Tea Factory and has won this award many times. The pristine Mountains of Namunukula in Ella, these tea estates are part of a joint venture of three leading Sri Lankan Tea Companies, namely Hapugastenna Plantation owned by the Finlays Group that boasts of imperial teas and tea tang teas.

“Tea” a commodity that is synonymous with Sri Lanka, a commodity which is in abundance in the hill country, the Uva province is famous for its tea estates in Sri Lanka and is between the altitudes of 2000ft and 4000ft above sea level on the eastern slopes of central mountains in Sri Lanka. The Newburgh Green Tea Factory is nestled in the mountains that are surrounded by the beauty of tea bushes. This factory is a unique spot in Ella City.

The surrounding of the tea factory is a kaleidoscope of color with many flowers all in bloom which is pleasing to the eye and an attraction to tourists who take a tour of the tea factory. The tour around the factory is short in that it takes only 20 minutes and you are prohibited from taking photographs of the tea processing methods and the machinery within the walls of the factory.
