About Gartmore Falls:

Gartmore falls is about 25 meters in height and located close to Adam’s Peak Mountain and located near Nallathanniya. It is referred to by the name Gartmore Falls as it is located inside the Gartmore Estate situated in a small town Maskeliya of Nuwara-Eliya, in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Gartmore falls is fed by two streams named as Upper Gartmore falls and Lower Gartmore falls and merge together above the Gartmore falls and pours on to the Maskeliya Reservoir. Gartmore falls together with Upper and Lower Gartmore falls are commonly called as ‘Gartmore Estate Waterfalls’. Gartmore falls is a popular one as it is very visible when travelling through Nallathanniya Road approaching to Adam’s Peak. Moray falls is another waterfall located close by and has a very similar shape and is often confused with Gartmore falls.


How to reach the Destination:

Gartmore falls is about 73.2 km away from Nuwara-Eliya and takes about 2 ½ hours to reach the destination. From Nuwara-Eliya you should travel along the Avissawella – Hatton – Nuwara-Eliya Highway and the Hatton – Maskeliya – Dalhousie Road passing Nanuoya, Kotagala, Hatton and Dickoya up to Maskeliya. At Maskeliya, turn to Gartmore Road and travel along this route to reach the Gartmore falls.
Alternatively, you may go along the road towards Nallathanniya and find a road to your left at Mulagama junction that leads to Moray Estate. From here, you will have to walk around 300 metres through the tea estate and you will come across the Gartmore falls.
