James Taylor’s Seat is situated in Loolkandura Estate in Sri Lanka. This is a beautiful place and a must-visit if you are traveling to Kandy. It is also a very famous place and you may find this place a bit crowded.
James Taylor’s Seat is situated in the Kandy district in Sri Lanka. This is a rock seat that was used by James Taylor who was the person that started tea cultivation in Sri Lanka. From this seat, you will be able to see amazing views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The most unique decision taken by James Taylor was named the estate as “Loolecondera” which the local name for the area while other British heads gave only English names to places.
James Taylor’s Seat is located in the Loolkandura Estate which was the first tea estate in Sri Lanka. The first tea plant was planted by James Taylor back in 1867. He cleared 19 acres of forest and started his tea cultivation which was a great success. Eventually, he died at the age of 57, and tribute was given to him by mesmerizing the places he used such as James Taylor’s Seat.
Go on McCallum Road and continue on Colombo – Katunayake Expressway. Take the Outer-Circular exit and turn right onto Colombo-Kandy road. After 3.6 km turn right onto Doluwa road and turn left onto Wariyagala – Illagolla Road.
Then turn right onto Galaha Road and turn right at Loolkadura Tea Estate onto James Taylor Road to reach your destination.
Go on Deltota Watha Road toward Galaha Road and turn left onto Galaha Road. Then turn right at Loolkadura Tea Estate onto James Taylor Road to reach your destination.
