Jungle beach

Jungle beach is located west to Unawatuna. It is a pretty bay nestled in a forested area. It is one of the most interesting places in Sri Lanka which has everything to make your holiday even more exciting. The place retains its natural charm as it is not visited by a large number of tourists throughout the year like the other beaches because of its secluded location.

About the destination

There are a couple of slim-line sandy coves here, some snorkeling offshore and a cafe. It’s a pleasant, hilly 2km walk from Unawatuna. You can access by road only via a side lane from the highway. Tuk-tuk charge is just Rupees 400 from Unawatuna.

The distance between Colombo to Jungle Beach is 123 km by road.

Things to do in Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach offers several water sports such as snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, boat ride, and many more. The reefs jutting out of the water a few meters offshore make a good site for snorkeling. It gives you a chance to explore the exotic marine life of the region. Apart from schools of colourful fishes, you can spot moray eels, encounter crabs, barracudas, triggerfish, and many other reef-dwelling creatures. You can engage in other activities like whale watching, visiting historical ruins, jungle hiking, and many more.

There are quality resorts and cabins at Jungle Beach furnished with plush amenities and offering you a tranquil retreat amidst the jungle settings. You can taste the traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in a communal restaurant or enjoy private dining at a beachside restaurant.

Simply said, Jungle Beach is the place that awaits you to explore its hidden treasure and spend your vacation in style and luxury. One of those ‘secret’ spots that everyone seems to know about, and shouldn’t be missed out.
