Koggala Beach is located in Koggala Sri Lanka. It is a spectacular and soothing place. This is a great surfing place and if you need to surf so bad but not at all good at it you can take private surfing lessons which are offered at this place for a small price. This is a great place to relax while soaking yourself in salty relaxing water while having the best seafood you have ever tasted up to date.

This is quite a splendid place to spend your day as it has simply everything you crave for and search for on a beach. It offers the most delicious seafood dishes while giving you a chance to surf your heart out. Several shops and restaurants are ready to fulfill all your necessities at all times. The clear blue water calms your mind and soothes your body while putting you at ease.

You can even enjoy the sunset while sipping your favorite cocktail or mocktail from the nearby restaurants.

Things to do in Koggala Beach

There is a turtle hatchery close to the beach. Here the people buy turtle eggs from fishermen to reduce the rate of consuming the eggs. This place was open since 1996 and it is doing a great service to Sri Lanka up to date.

You can also visit the Koggala Lake which is just a few minutes away from Koggala Beach. You can go on a boat ride if you like and it is quite a famous place among people.

The best time to visit Koggala Beach

The peak is from November and lasts until May because during this time the sky is clear and almost has no rainfall. It could be crowded during this time of the year but you won’t regret your decision of coming to this place.

How to reach your destination

From Colombo

Go on the McCallum road then go on Colombo-Katunayake expressway and connect to the Southern Expressway. Exit from the Pinnaduwa interchange and continue on Access Road. Turn left onto Colombo – Galle Road and after 9.6 km turn right to reach your destination.

From Galle

Take Galle – Baddegama Road and turn left Edmond Mawatha. Then turn left onto Circular Road and turn left Matara Road. Turn right and you will reach your destination.
