Kuda Viharaya is situated in Tangalle in Sri Lanka. This is an ancient temple but this place has less recognition. It is also known as the Lesser Rock Temple.
About the destination
Kuda Viharaya is also known as Kuda Gal Viharaya. It is given this name is because of the 4 statues of Buddha which are carved in the rock. But all the heads of the statues are broken but except one statue. It is believed that these are broken by treasure hunters. Somehow the second cave is small and the statues in this place have long disappeared.
Reaching the destination
From Colombo
Go on McCallum Road and go on Colombo – Katunayake Expressway. Continue onto Southern Expressway and you have to take the exit from the Beliatta interchange. Turn right onto Beliatta – Walasmulla Road and turn right onto Indipokunagoda Road to reach your destination.
From Tangalle
Go on Colombo- Wellawaya Highway and turn left onto Indipokunagoda Road to reach your destination.
