Kunchukulam hanging bridge is situated in the area of Kunchikulam. Kunchikulam is a famous village in the district of Mannar. The bridge is located amid a thick jungle which is a part of the Wilpattu wildlife sanctuary. In the rainy season, water flows over the bridge which makes it quite beautiful scenery to witness.
The Kunchukulam hanging bridge is held by two strong cables and with steel sheets put across. It is 150 meters long and 1.2 meters in width. These types of bridges are called Ellena Palama or Sangili Palama in Sinhala which means Suspension bridges or Hanging bridges. The bridge is close to the turnoff to the Madhu church thus it belongs to the Madhu Division.
Follow McCallum Road. Follow Colombo – Katunayake Expressway. Follow the Kandy-Jaffna highway to reach your destination. Continue on Pallawarayankaddu- Manniyakulam- Kilinochchi Road to your destination.
Head southeast on St Sebastian Road. Follow Navathkuli – Karativu – Mannar Highway. Take Pallawarayankaddu- Manniyakulam- Kilinochchi Rd to your destination.
