Lipton’s Seat is situated in the Bandarawela district in Sri Lanka. It is one of the most impressive observation points in Sri Lanka. It is given this name because the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to sit in it and survey his empire in the most royal way possible.
Lipton’s Seat is situated 7 km away from the small tea plantation town of Dambatenne. You can reach Lipton’s Seat from two routes, one of them is the Dambatenna estate in Haputale or the Nayabedda estate route in Bandarawela.
The best times to visit are between October to April otherwise the midday fog will ruin your view.
You can see the Central, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa provinces spread out in front of you when you are at the Lipton’s Seat. You are can also go see the amazing Hambanthota harbor, Chandrika lake, Wedihitikanda mountains, and so many mesmerizing views.
Get on the Katunayake Expressway from Darley Road. Take Southern Expressway. Follow Colombo – Galle – Hambantota – Wellawaya Highway to Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway. Continue on Haputale – Dambetenne road. Drive to Lipton Seat Road to reach your destination.
Head southeast toward Bandarawela-Poonagala-Koslanda Road. Drive along Nayabadda Mountain Road. Drive to Lipton Seat Road to reach your destination.
