The Moonstone Mine(Meetiyagoda) is situated in the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. It is a moonstone mine which is used to dig in stunning moonstones. This is Sri Lanka’s largest moonstone mine and the Sri Lankan moonstones are famous for its blue shine. This blue shine is what creates the difference between Indian and Sri Lanka moonstones.

Moonstone Mine Meetiyagoda dig about 50 to 100 rough moonstones per day. These are from diverse qualities and shapes. The moonstones which have the highest value are the moonstones with dark blue reflections. These are then cut and polished into shape to give the real glamour they are holding deep inside.

From Colombo
Go on McCallum Road and turn right onto Kynsey Road. Go for 450 meters then turn right onto Athurugiriya Road. Turn right onto Southern Expressway and take the exit from the Dodangoda interchange. Turn left onto Ambalangoda road and turn left onto Elpitiya Road. Then turn right onto Kahawa-Batapola road and after 4.2 kilometers turn right onto Lewduwwa Road to reach your destination.
