Namunukula is situated in the Badulla district of Sri Lanka. The name of the Namunukula derives because there are nine peaks on this mountain range. It consists of the tallest mountain peak in the Uva province. It is 2035 meters in height and recorded to be the 12th tallest mountain in Sri Lanka.

It is recorded that there were Ming treasure voyages during the 15th century, the admiral named Zheng He of a Chinese fleet used the geographical feature of Namunukula in their navigation to Sri Lanka. The reason behind this is Namunukula is the first visible landmark of Sri Lanka after departing from Sumatra.
You have to take Colombo – Katunayake Expressway. Then take the Southern Expressway. Follow Colombo – Galle – Hambantota – Wellawaya Highway, Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway, and Ella- Pasara road and drive to your destination in Namunkula.
Take Keppetipola Road to Bandarawela Road. Follow Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway to Ella – Passara Road. Follow Ella – Passara Road to your destination in Namunukula.
