National Spice Garden is considered to be the Central Research Station of the Department of Export Agriculture in Matale. This is a very unique place to study about the various types of Sri Lankan spices and to experience the real spices of the country at the same time.

Getting to the location

From Colombo

Take the McCallum road then go on the Colombo-Katunayake expressway and exit from the Ja-Ela exit. Turn right onto Chilaw – Colombo Main Road and turn right onto Kurunegala Road.

Turn right to Kathiresan Kovil Road and turn right onto Kandy Road. Turn left onto Madulkelle- Kandenuwara and go for 1.8 km and your destination will be on the left.

From Matale

You have to head south on Kandy Road, Kandy – Jaffna Highway. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on Kandy Road.

Sharp left at Saubhagya Enterprises onto Madulkelle – Kabaragala – Kandenuwara and your destination will be on the left.
