Nuwaraeliya Golf Club is a golf club situated in Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in Sri Lanka which was established in 1889. This is also considered as one of the oldest golf clubs situated in Asia and could be even in the whole world.
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is situated in the hill station of Nuwara Eliya. This is an 18-hole golf course that is believed to have been found by the British planters who cultivated tea in Sri Lanka. It is 6399 yards long and has a testing par 71 which is made up of long, narrow fairways and beautiful cypresses.
This place welcomes all new players and experienced ones with open arms. It gives challenges to the players which makes the play even more fun and interesting. It is a place that is rich in history, tradition, and class.
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club was built by a Scottish soldier of the Gordon Highlanders. They were British servicemen and officials who were posted at Nuwara Eliya. It was initially built among the tea plantations of the central highland region. It has about 2000 members and the count keeps on increasing with every passing day.
