Samudragiri Viharaya is situated in Mirissa in Sri Lanka. It is also called as the Mirissa Viharaya. There is not enough proof about this temple but it is believed to have existed from the 18th century.
Samudragiri Viharaya was declared as a national heritage because of the image house that belongs to the Kandyan Era. The most beautiful things in the temple area in the image house. The wall of the image house is divided into strips and there are Jathaka Katha’s drawn in them such as the Sasa Jathakaya, Sama Jathakaya, Devadamma Jathaka, and so on.
Samudragiri Viharaya has three entrances to the inner chamber of the image house. All of these entrances are beautifully decorated with a relief of a dragon’s arch. You will notice the red color most because according to the traditional Kandyan style red takes a very prominent place. These are also drawn using leaves, branches, and flowers.

Take the exit from Kokmaduwa Interchange and turn right onto Weligama – Kananke Road. Turn right onto Galbokka Road and turn left onto Buhari Masjid Road. Then turn left onto Colombo – Galle – Hambantota – Wellawaya Road to reach your destination.
