Kandy Lake which was created in 1807 by Sri Wickrama Rajasinha , the last ruler of the kingdom of Kandy . It was situated next to the Sri Dalada Maligawa . The lake is encircled by a wall called Walakulu Bamma or Clouds Wall The perimeter of the lake is about 3.4 km and the Walakulu wall runs to about 2070 feet round the lake . A cement footpath dotted with benches encircles the lake and is a favorite venue for early-evening stroll .
