Pundalu Oya Falls is a waterfall located in Nuwara-Eliya District of Central Province of Sri Lanka. This waterfall is situated in Pundaluoya village and formed by the Pundalu Oya River, so as received its name. It is sometimes also called as Dunsinane Falls or Dunsinane Sheen Falls, as the waterfall is situated between two tea plantations – Dunsinane Tea Estate and Sheen Tea Estate. Pundalu Oya Ella together with Puna Ella has a unique Y shape and gives a magnificent view to the observers. There is a separating road bridge in the middle; top segment falls over a wide rock and the other segment is hidden below the bridge. The water flowing from this falls gets connected to the Kotmale Reservoir and part of the area is designated as a high security zone under the Upper Kotmale Project. There is also a small temple with a Statue nearby to the waterfall.
Pundalu Oya Falls is about 24 km away from Nuwara-Eliya that takes about 1 hour drive. You should take the Kandy road towards Nuwara-Eliya to Thavalamtenne. Then turn onto the Gampola – Pundalu Oya road that leads to Pundalu Oya. Once there, continue for a further 2 km to the two large tea estates – Dansinan and Shin. The fall flows between these estates and can be viewed in two segments, from above the road or below. (Peradeniya -> Kuda Oya (just before Nuwara-Eliya) -> Dunshinane estate -> Pundalu Oya Falls)
