Tourists to receive free Visa from April
Free visa for tourists from a selected few countries
The cabinet has approved a proposal to provide free visas for tourists from a few selected countries. This scheme is going to be initiated from the 01st of April and will continue for a period of 06 months.
April to October is the low season for Sri Lanka tourism market and this decision has been made to improve tourist arrivals for this particular period.
Vesak, Poson festivals and Kandy Esala Perhera are held at this time period. Hence, it is expected to receive more tourist arrivals from Buddhist countries such as Thailand.
Apart from tourists from Thailand, travelers from UK, Australia, South Korea, Canada, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand will also recieve this benefit.
